2025.01.16 A roll in your pocket and Jesus in your heart

Hello Friends,

Several weeks ago I was out with my Aunt Hope when she got a text from her daughter Nikki telling her a cute story about Alex, Nikki’s son.  They had gone out to eat at a popular steakhouse.  Upon leaving and putting Alex in his car seat, Nikki felt something in his pocket.   It turned out Alex had decided to put a roll in his pocket to take home and eat later.

Personally, I love rolls, so I can understand why he would want to shove one in his pocket.  But as I reflected on this story I acknowledge something we should all want even more.  Jesus.

How many of us go to church one, maybe even two or three times a week and walk out of those church doors only to go back to doing our own thing until the next time we go to church? I’ll admit, there are times I have gotten busy and forgotten to pray and read my Bible.  The world keeps us busy, satan’s main goal is to separate us from God by any means necessary.  It doesn’t matter to him if we’re watching TV, playing games on our phones, or obsessing over a new trending video.  All that matters to the devil is that we don’t focus on God.  But shouldn’t that be our priority?  Shouldn’t we be leaving church with Jesus in our hearts so we always have Him with us?  We should be sharing Jesus with everyone we meet, working against the devil as he is trying to keep us away from God.

I challenge you, friends, to keep your focus on God, remember to pray and read your Bible.  Stand FIRM in God’s Word and do not allow the devil to stand between you and the Savior of the world.

I am a follower of Christ, I am not perfect, but I love Jesus.

Until Next Time,

Liz Allen
