2025.11.21 Staying Alert In Our Armor

Hello Friends,

We spend our time in God’s Word, we pray, and we keep faith because these things help us keep our Spiritual armor intact.

We wear our armor because (as the song says) we are in the Lord’s Army. What does an army do? An army remains vigilant, watching, ready to defend if needed.  That is what we are to do as soldiers in the Lord’s Army.  All the pieces of the armor are offensive except for the Sword of Truth, which is the Word of God.

As members of the same Army, it is important that we can recognize traits of our own Army. Biblically speaking we would call these traits fruits(Galatians 5:22-23). We can tell someone is with us by their words and actions.   Those who are not in our Army but pretend to be are known as wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15) (to me, it brings the mind the story of the Trojan horse where people hid inside the hollow wooden horse so they could sneak attack their enemies by tricking them).  These wolves try to infiltrate the church. They want to drag us down.  It is important to stay rooted in God’s Word so that you can recognize when you meet a wolf in sheep’s clothing.  By knowing how to recognize people in the Army with us, we can better recognize those who are not.

That being said, the Bible tells us to pray without ceasing, (I Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬) as members of God‘s Army we need to pray without ceasing so that we can be careful to not let the enemy in.  This includes praying for our brothers and sisters in the Army, lifting them up, encouraging them, and showing love and support to them.  Pastor Michael said it best when he said we need to fortify each other in order to fortify the church.

If you do not have a home church, I encourage you to find one.  Find a Biblically focused church where you can go and grow knowledge of God’s Word.  We need to get stay prepared for battle.   Meeting with other Christians is the best way to do that. After all, an army of one cannot watch on all sides.  We need to stay with our fellow soldiers so we can withstand the devil and his schemes.  (“so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.”  2 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬ )

Friends, keep praying, keep gathering, and keep reading.  Stay vigilant, stay ready, and stay in the Word.

I am a follower of Christ, I am not perfect, but I love Jesus.

Until Next Time,

Liz Allen
