2025.12.05 “Love God and Love People”
Hello Friends,
Recent discussions I’ve have heard gotten me thinking about the song
“Love God Love People” by Danny Gokey. It feels at times that we as Christians can get caught up in doing things a certain way. We like to stay in our comfort zones and stay where it’s familiar.
But this isn’t always what’s best for advancing God’s Kingdom. I recently heard of a church where someone made unkind comments to a young g man because of the clothing he wore to church. I can’t help but wonder what that young man thought as he left church that day. I wonder if he ever went back? I do hope whatever the case is, that he knows the person’s unkind comment doesn’t speak for God, and God wants him to come no matter what. God just wants a real relationship with us.
I also wonder about the person who made the comment. How old were they? What were they wearing? What were their intentions? Did they make the comment because they were always taught people were supposed to wear certain things to church? Did they ever realize the comment could have been a deterrent to this young man returning? I pray they realized they should not have said what they said.
As Christians we need to do better. We need to welcome everyone who comes to church no matter if they are in dresses, suits, jeans, or sweats. People need the Lord, ALL people, not just the ones who are fortunate enough to afford new clothes, or good shoes. Again, going back to the song, I feel it says it all:
“Love God Love People” by Danny Gokey.
“Gotta keep it real simple, keep it real simple
Bring everything right back to ground zero
'Cause it all comes down to this
Love God and love people (People)
We're living in a world that keeps breakin'
But if we want to find a way to change it
It all comes down to this
Love God and love people”
Love God and Love People. If you love God and love people, then you want everyone to love God. Regardless of socioeconomic status or race or any other division we see in society. Love God, and Love People (period)
I am a follower of Christ, I am not perfect, but I love Jesus.
Until Next Time,
Liz Allen
