2022.06.10 Treasure
It's that time of year. Everyone is having garage sales. In fact, my grandmother has also had a garage sale. I sat for hours waiting for people to show up, look at things the sellers (my family) once wanted, and either buy it or walk away. It makes me think of the old saying, "One man's junk is another man's treasure." Oh, how true is that!? My grandmother put in a quilt she had made several years ago, to her, it was just another quilt, but to my family, it was another one of "Grandma's quilts" she didn't understand why we would find it so important, that she would get phone calls asking her not to sell it. I suppose it could be partly because the era she grew up in compared to her grandchildren, I'm not sure, but she set it aside for a grandchild. I love the fact that my family values these family "heirlooms," however, what I love even more is that my family values God. In Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus tells us "Do not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will be also." Jesus is the true treasure. Grandma's quilts may be nice to wrap up in at the end of a long winter's day, but after we are gone from this earth, the blanket will no longer mean a thing. Jesus is the only thing that will matter, and the only thing that lasts long after the world stops turning.
Do you know Jesus? If not, I highly encourage you to read the Gospels in the Bible. If you do know Him, share Him with someone. We, as Christians, need to share the Word. John 3:17 says "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." People need to hear that God loves them. They need to know the TRUTH and separate it from the devils LIES. Jesus loves us, He wants us to turn from our sin, and follow Him. There is no sin too big for God to forgive, if we just ask Him.
One of my favorite Hymns says:
I love to tell the story;
'Tis pleasant to repeat
What it seems each time I tell it,
More wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story;
For some have never heard
The message of salvation
From God's own holy Word.
- I Love To Tell The Story by Katherine Hankey
Tell the story, tell the GOOD NEWS, some have never heard, and YOU might be the first person to share with them. Everyone needs Jesus. Share Jesus today!
I am a follower of Christ, I am not perfect, but I love Jesus.
Until Next Time,
Liz Allen
